Frequently Asked Questions
What Is DBT?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a highly effective form of therapy designed to help individuals struggling with emotional dysregulation, self-destructive behaviors, and difficulties in interpersonal relationships. Developed by Dr. Marsha M. Linehan, DBT combines elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with mindfulness practices to create a comprehensive and compassionate approach to healing. In my private practice, I provide DBT-informed therapy. This means I teach relevant DBT skills in my individual sessions and help my clients integrate them into their lives to meet their goals. Comprehensive DBT is a structured and intensive model that includes weekly individual therapy, weekly DBT skills group, skills coaching, and a consultation team that your therapist attends weekly.
How Do I get Started?
If you're interested in us working together, the first step is to contact me to schedule a free consultation call. In that call, we will discuss the reasons you are seeking therapy, the services I provide, my clinical approach, and any other questions you might have. If it seems like we may be a good fit, we will discuss availability and schedule our first session together at the end of that call.
Do You Provide In-Person or Virtual Sessions?
I provide both virtual sessions via Zoom to clients anywhere in California and in-person sessions at my offices in Beverly Hills and Calabasas, CA.
Do you Accept Insurance?
I am an out-of-network (OON) provider. This means I provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to understand your coverage for out-of-network mental health services. The reason for being OON is when mental health providers bill health insurance companies directly, the provider is required to become a participating provider. The provider must sign a contract allowing the insurance company to determine which services it will cover and how much it will reimburse, despite the real cost. As a participating provider, I would be bound to accept the fees set by the insurance company and frequency/duration of treatment, even if they are not reasonable or clinically appropriate for my client.
How Much Do Sessions Cost?
$350 for 45min session, $465 for 60min session Please contact me directly for information on sliding scale options.
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
Appointments need to be cancelled or rescheduled at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Appointments that are cancelled, missed, or rescheduled with less than 48 hours notice, will not be refunded and you will be financially responsible for the full session fee. A credit may be offered in the case of serious illness or emergency.
Are You Available After Hours?
Clients may reach me 24 hours a day via email. Comprehensive DBT clients also have access to phone coaching as needed.
